If you are age 30 and younger, can't you still buy a catastrophic health plan?

No. We healthy bastards are supposed to help pay for the old and unhealthy because that is what some idiot deemed was fair.

I don't mind paying for the old and unhealthy, so long as they were productive, tax paying citizens. I DO mind paying for illegals to come here and receive treatment paid by my taxes by granting them amnesty.

There were plenty of affordable options available for me. I had a major medical plan through BCBS until I switched to an employer sponsored plan in 2010. It was the perfect policy for me at the time, and it was cheap....

Most of you think I'm an idiot... that's fine.

This thread has less to do about me than it does about every other poor person out there.

Let's break down my budget.

I make $8.50 an hour, my boss won't let me work more than 40 hours a week... so my best pay check after taxes is somewhere around $560 for two weeks normally.. that's 1120 a month. I spend 325 that covers my entire rent and utilities... that's pretty cheap, very few people can get that type of deal. That gives me $795 to live off of a month. I manage to save about 250 or so a month. So I live off about 545 a month. That's 17 dollars a day. That 17 dollars covers my cell phone bill, my food, my gas, my clothes, my hygiene products, everything... There is Zero room for me to spend anything on healthcare really unless I just completely give up alcohol... which I'll admit I do spend an average of about $2 dollars a day on.

I had a catastrophe plan for around $100 dollars a month.. I call that expensive... others laugh and say that's cheap... but another $100 out of my budget is something I can't really afford. After my $2 dollars for alcohol and my 3 bucks in gas to go to work and back I'm down to $12 dollars a day. Now, I'd like to eat, so that's about $5 bucks a day if I'm conservative... down to $7 dollars a day... now take 7 and multiply it by 30... 210 dollars a month... all my clothes, toothpaste, toilet paper, toothbrush, house cleaner, razors, deodorant.... etc etc etc... comes out of that $210. Now make me spend $90 on this cheap insurance plan I can't even get anymore and I have to survive off $120 a month to wipe my arse, brush my teeth, be clean shaven, and smell good, and have a cell phone(actually required for my job) so my boss doesn't fire me.

That's about $4 dollars a day I have to do those things... God forbid I wanna buy something or do something that doesn't fall in that category.

Well get a better job then... right? With every passing day big businesses destroy the chances for better jobs for the majority of people. Not only that.. but wealthy people want cheap eggs, cheap house cleaners, cheap fruit, a cheap roof, etc... so mexicans get hired cause they'll work for 15 cents a day and no bathroom breaks.

As opposed to poor people who want all that shite, but expensive.

Get a grip. The vast majority of your ailments are a direct result of government fricking with "big business".

I've said multiple times that the rich are just as much to blame as the poor. we all think we deserve more than we really do.

If you're trolling, you are fricking good at it.

I have quite a few rich customers. They've got expensive stuff all throughout their homes...and they don't drive 90's model cars.

Speaking of that, next time you get a chance, check out the cars in the parking lot of Walmart. Then, check out the cars in the parking lot of a Whole Foods.

I've already mentioned how government (YES, GOVERNMENT) is demolishing your purchasing power every day. Why do you keep ignoring that fact?

yeah.... ok... It does have to do with me and my situation.. what I would like people to see is that my situation is not alone and is spreading... If you want to ignore that.. fine.

Im not saying rich people don't shop at target and whole foods... they do.. they also shop at publix... you know where almost no one shops anymore? it's a place called "mom and pops" grocery... or "Ted's General Store"

Drive up and down your local area and see how many small businesses that aren't a part of a "chain" you see and then compare that to the one's that are part of a "chain".

That's not the business' fault...that's the CONSUMERS fault. Do you think businesses should be forced to quit growing at a certain point?

Also, you keep ignoring government's role in crushing your ability to purchase things.

It's everyone's fault, and at the same time it's no one's fault.. as a business owner I want to succeed...as a consumer I want to buy cheap... it's really no one's fault... but it's causing a huge problem...

What is the government preventing me from purchasing? I've never had anyone tell me I couldn't buy something.. it's usually the opposite. I prevent myself from purchasing things cause I don't think I can afford them...

I don't think you understand what costs are. Every time a new reg is added or tax installed, COSTS go up, which force prices up, which HURTS your purchasing power.

Costs are built in to the final price you pay for a product. The more costs imposed, the higher the price of that product. Also, because of those costs, competitors (which improve quality and decrease price) are DISCOURAGED from entering the market. So, those "big boys" can charge more than they otherwise could. GOVERNMENT is the root of these costs. Does that make sense? (no snark intended)

I don't know.. I don't know if you are familiar with the term monopoly.. but it seems we are ok with it if there are only 2... walmart is ok as long as target exists....sam's is ok if cost-co is available... macintosh is ok as long as window's is there... you get the picture....

I'm starting to worry about monopolies though... I'm late to the game.. I should have been worried 20 years ago.
