In truth he was a flaming Liberal. But he didn't show it in the reading of the news.

In the old days, it was much more subtle. You could still put out biased news by picking and choosing WHAT you were doing to report.

That is still done today, but in a much more obvious manner.

My mom has always been a conservative, and told me it was sometimes obvious Cronkite was liberal, but only rarely did it show in his broadcasts.

ARCHIE: "What channel is the CBS News on?"
EDITH: "Channel 9. The one we don't watch because you said Walter Cronkite is a Communist."
ARCHIE: "I never said that!... The man's not completely red."

Yesterday I posted this clip of Dan Rather at a Nixon press conference in 1974. As harmless as it seems today, there was a huge uproar about it at the time, and some people even wanted Rather fired. Not only was he not fired, but his silly "comeback" made him a hero to the left. That was considered "disrespect" in the old days.

I haven't watched TV news in 10 years, and haven't watched CNN in perhaps 20. So I had actually never seen Jim Acosta before the recent PC. To put it mildly, I was astounded by his behavior. He wasn't simply asking a question. He was making a speech, like he was addressing a Beto fundraiser.

That's the difference. In the Cronkite era the bias had to be a bit subtler. Today, saying CNN is biased is like saying the DNC is biased.

Cronkite gave his listeners credit for having at least a basic level of reasoning skills. CNN, et al, assume they're talking to pre-schoolers.

Cronkite was fairly progressive and pushed an agenda. I'm not going to say he was anti-American, but he definitely took sides and he lost the Vietnam War.

Just as BLM is based on an outright lie, the loss in Vietnam is based on a lie - that we "lost" the Tet Offensive (we didn't) and Cronkite said the war was lost (it wasn't, we won that war.)

SO, there is all of that. Cronkite would still be fairly pink, even today. He was really pink back in the day.

Toward the end of his career, Cronkite began injecting his personal opinions into his broadcasts. The leftist takeover of the MSM can be traced to the Vietnam War period, shortly before his retirement.

Yep. He was just more subtle about it than today's in-your-face Commie reporters.

Cronkite started all this. He started injecting opinion into the news.

Cronkite would fit right in. He was no objective journalist; he was just better at covering his Leftist leanings than folks do today.

War is messy and civilians don't always get the big picture. You should know that.

The frick he did. He didn't say it was fricked up. He said the war was already lost. And we won the war. The Watergate scandal lost the peace.

The United States of America WON the Vietnam War in every objective measurement. Period.

Bull Shat!
Walter Cronkite would have been crying alligator tears when Hillary lost. The MSM was leftist back then. There was not social media to report it.
When Nixon won the republican nomination all the nightly anchors had tears for weeks.
