Trade is no longer a winner/loser zero sum game. It hasnt been for decades.
You give money, they give you product which you value as much as the money. You both win.

Several major wine-producing regions in France, particularly the famed Bordeaux area, are struggling because of a cocktail of problems from changes in consumption habits, the cost-of-living crisis and the after-effects of Covid-19.
A fall in demand for wine has led to over-production, a sharp fall in prices, and major financial difficulties for up to one in three wine makers in the Bordeaux region, according to the local farmers’ association.
An initial European Union fund of 160 million euros for wine destruction has been topped up to 200 million euros by the French government, Agriculture Minister Marc Fesneau told reporters at a press conference on Friday.
The money was “aimed at stopping prices collapsing and so that wine-makers can find sources of revenue again,” but he stressed that the industry needed to “look to the future, think about consumer changes ... and adapt.”

The people who voted for Trump because “inflation is out of control!” Are suddenly all about paying out the arse to, uh, move manufacturing of fricking $800 85” TVs back to America to triple the price.

Not as world power. That was more like 20-30.
And they can do lots of shitty manufacturing with 3x the population. it's not that big of a deal when our PCGDP tells a different story.

DOGE hasn't actually done anything yet and it's been pretty chaotic. But Congress has to act to fix those problems.
We'll see what savings can be actually passed in September I guess.

One definition of "Screwed over":
In less than ten years our national debt has more than doubled. An increase of 18 trillion dollars. And the rate of debt increase is increasing.
We also saw the effect of global supply chain disruption. We also saw China unleash a bio-weapon on the world with no repercussions.
Only a fool or traitor is unable to see that we need to bring back certain manufacturing to America.

I cannot recall a single administration that has prioritized and tried to downsize the government at this scale. Its been 2.5 months. Congress always moves slow, thats on Congress though - not Trump
If you want small government, you should stop bashing the people who are putting in the work to achieve small government
