He was on Megyn Kelly's show yesterday for about half an hour.
Talked about how they just finished a multi year remodel and moved back in a few months ago.
Also said they were very meticulous with keeping a cleared area around the structures and getting rid of dead/excess growth. Said some of his neighbors did, others didn't, but it always bugged him.
Not saying that is why his house survived and others didn't but it could have been a contributing factor.
The reason he thought the house burned down was because as they were at the hotel they started getting notifications from all of the smoke detectors around the house one by one. And on security cameras he could see the firetrucks out front in the street not doing anything because they had no water.
He was very lucky.
Also cares greatly for his neighbors, most have been there for 30+ years.
He told an anecdote about the Camp Fire from ~2018 when he was coordinating help finding family members lost in the evacuations and such. The hot daughter from Who's the Boss posted about her horses being trapped, she was out of town, Woods helped get them rescued. Said politics are irrelevant at times like this.

Condolences to SFP, boosiebadass, tboy, VOR, the Bama guy, and all our board Libs I forget their names. I’m sorry you can’t celebrate someone’s total destruction. Maybe tomorrow when your pagan gods will deliver?

BTW, if you haven’t seen James Woods and James Garner in Promise you should. Rainman looked like it was ripped off from that movie, and the Woods/Garner movie is just as good as the splendid Rainman,
Just an FYI, 26 y.o. James Woods is the client in Season 1, Episode 1 of The Rockford Files. (So is James Garner)

Eh, schizophrenia is just a bit different than savant syndrome. Rainman is based on a true story of Kim Peeks.
So I don't think there was any ripping off.

How do you think the fire will affect his property value? People will be looking for a house to live in, but how will the rest of area affect the price?

Yeah, different mental conditions, but a playboy’s parents die leaving him responsibility for his mentally handicapped brother? Then the playboy has to come to grips with his idle ways and accept responsibility. Learning that it’s not all about him? Very similar stories.
