Suicides up 25% in last decade. Guns, ropes, belts, and knives are not getting more dangerous. The people using them are.
Its time to address the real problem.

Regardless, G-d bless him - he didn't hurt anyone but himself.

So the meds are the problem but you don't even know what meds he was taking? Or if he was even taking them?

Yes. Meds are the problem. Get your head out of the sand

What is the real problem?
Who should address it?

Tell me which meds are the problem and why so I can properly remove my head from the sand.

Meds can be a problem and can be a solution. He was obviously depressed. He needed to be on anti depressants.
“Found unresponsive” is probably an OD. Didnt he have a heroin addiction years ago? Bet it will just be that or another opiate and benzodiazepines. You can eat a handful of Zoloft or better a tricyclic, but it’s not gonna be a smooth passing. There is going to be a period of heart racing and wall climbing.
Are we over medicated? Yep. We are under counseled. So many people on meds should also be talking to somebody. Therapy of some sort CBT or whatever. Most just see a GP for 5 minutes and leave with a scrip.

I’d say his friends are family are hurting pretty damn bad right now

prescription meds with unknown and known dangerous mental side effects. being peddled to unknowing Americans via television ads and incentiveized doctors.

Hung himself. I guess the possibility for autoerotic asphyxiation is there, but probably not the case.

you should do some independent research.
there are plenty of dangerous "legal" meds that people take every day. dont be such a fool.
drugs that nobody was taking 20 years ago

I agree that they are a problem at a macro level. But stating your pure speculation as fact that it was this particular individual’s problem is pretty irresponsible.

Since the op was too fricking lazy to add a first name (and he misspelled the last name), this thread is about Anthony Bourdain, the celebrity chef and world traveler.
He was found dead in his hotel room this morning in France.

Pretty sure people have off’d themselves for thousands of years before meds came along.

Dude was friends with the Clintons wasn't he?

I know more about SSRIs, SNRIs, SARIs, and tricyclics than most people do. So which ones are the problems?

That's all well and true, but how do you know Bourdain was on any meds legal or illegal? What independent research would answer that?

He was taking heroin. But I doubt he had a prescription.
