I thought the A-10s were out of Jacksonville Air Base in Arkansas, but now I think about it, that may just be a Guard unit.

Why is the US involved with the Syrian civil war again?

Because the US, cia & state dept., started it after their failed color revolution.

The 159th still operates A-10s from Belle Chasse but you are correct the USAF did consolidate most of the Warthogs to Missouri (442nd Fighter Wing) but some are still based in Belle Chasse as part of the new AF strategy of spreading its assets across multiple bases for operational flexibility now.

The 159th has never had A-10’s.

Belle Chasse is home to the 159th fighter wing which operate the A-10 Warthogs.

This has never been true. The 922 had A10s as part of the Air Force Reserves. The Louisiana Air National Guard has never had A10s
