Those of you who have seen Zoolander remember:
'All wars are caused by the fashion industry'.
'The civil war???'
'Cotton!'

It was a huge export item because fashion in Europe was big business and cotton didn't grow in England.
Another export item related to fashion was fur. The original Cajuns (Nova Scotia) were primarily in the fur trapping business since Europe didn't have nearly as many wild animals to hunt. They made good money exporting to Europe.

When the Brits kicked them out, those who came to South La. found fewer fur bearing animals so they branched out to fishing and agriculture. There are some historians who believe it's why Cajuns had a history of undervaluing education. If your choice of jobs was hunting, fishing or farming you didn't need anything beyond 5th grade in those days.

And her comment about the Airbnb having a 'study room' which she deemed unnecessary, but what-ever!

I haven't watched the video yet but is she saying study rooms are racist? I'm very confused.

I know of many white children immigrants and orphans in the early 1900s who were indentured servants. Some were treated very well and had successful lives. But many others had the misfortune of ending up with bad people and died young. It was the luck of the draw.

I don't understand why anyone would be "triggered" by a cotton field. The majority of the rural South, Black and White, were sustained by "Cotton".
My earliest memories, five/six years old was in a cotton patch.
Schools in North Louisiana, in the 50s, were open only a half day for the months of Sept and Oct, because kids were used to pick cotton.
It was a dreary back breaking chore but it kept us fed.
I'd rather pick cotton than live in the projects. Apparently the cotton patch was more educational. I have seen more engineers and educators who came from the Patch than from the Projects, and the mortality rate was much better.

By state, California is 9th in cotton production (606k bales/yr). Alabama is 5th (735k bales/year).

Typical ploy by a certain demographic to not have to pay for the rental. That’s all this is

Just like when they order something at a restaurant and always find something wrong with it

“My ancestors picked cotton, I am shaking…”

Your ancestors also picked tobacco and yet Newports remain a community fixture.

Weakness of the mind and victimhood
