This incident happened last Wednesday, July 22. This morning, July 27th, the local Madison news stations are first reporting that “Ruiz may have had a criminal history.”

I’m very aware. I live 35 minutes from downtown Madison. My wife is a craft vendor and a festival she was planning on being at this weekend was cancelled. Within an hour after he won a stupid prize for playing stupid games his name leaked out. I looked him up on CCAP and was impressed by his criminal history. Not long after that his record was blowing up all over the place. Thankfully Wisconsin has free access to things where you can look up court records for free or it would’ve taken a bit of time for his past transgressions to surface.

I don’t know why this is even is a question. 100% justifiable shoot based on Police Use Of Force Continuum. Meet deadly force with deadly force. Every one not a moron has to admit that a knife being wielded can cause death or great bodily harm. That’s literally what we all saw on video. The taser attempt wasn’t even necessary.
1. Officer Presence
Subject Action: Compliant or inactive.
Officer Response: Mere physical presence. The objective is to deter crime or diffuse a situation simply by being there with a professional, non-threatening demeanor.
2. Verbalization
Subjects Action: Passive resistance, non-compliance, or conversational.
Officer Response: Calm, non-threatening requests progressing to firm, clear verbal commands (e.g., "Step out of the vehicle" or "Stop")
3.Empty-Hand Control
Subject Action: Active resistance or refusal to comply with verbal commands.
Officer Response: Bodily force, soft techniques (escort holds, wrist locks), or hard techniques (takedowns, striking, punching) to physically restrain the subject.
4. Intermediate Weapons (Less-Lethal)
Subject Action: Active aggression or assaultive behavior.
Officer Response: Chemical sprays (OC/pepper spray), conducted energy devices (Tasers), or impact weapons (expandable batons)
5. Lethal/Deadly Force
Subject Action: Imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm to the officer or others.

Protesters took over state street over the weekend and blocked entrances to bars.
Today they have flyers out to stop the highway traffic during rush hours.
As for UW football games? Maybe the rare time there is an influx of some conservatives into the city proper.
BLM is ruining the fabric of the city.
