To send a lasting message of fear/terror......the results of a chemical attack are far worse than reading about them. esp when children are affected.

Chemical weapons have two uses, terror and evacuation of the unprepared and harassment for the prepared.

But you are possibly making a huge false assumption, are they wrapping up in the war?

Because he is able to get away with it most days. This isn't the only time Chemical weapons have been used in the past year, it was just large enough to trigger a response.

You do something 50 times, because you got away with it 49 of them.

Again, there's no proof whatsoever that he even used them. It has also been proven multiple times that his opponents including the US and others have falsely accuse him of this in an effort or even done it themselves and then blamed the Assad regime to try and trump up last ditch support.

IMO yes, Assad's opponent's support has been curbed somewhat by Trump.

It's not the proxy war it was under the prior administration.

To send a message. Look, I'm with Tucker Carlson and Alex Jones on this. I will question everything and I don't want us to be dragged in to a Middle Eastern conflict when the Generals, war mongers and the Military Industrial Complex will do anything and everything to get us there. That being said, in the ME, the legions of people understand one thing. Fear.

That moment Saddam Hussein took power on live television.

Even more so, why would you use them on a population of people who support you? They had been revolting against the rebels for months and holding pro Assad rallies.

The French speaker at the UN claimed it was a barrel bomb dropped from a helicopter.

The militias there do not have helicopters. I'm not saying he was or was not lying but any proof of a helicopter dropping a BB would be damning against Assad.

Because organic weapons just don't get stubborn enemies out.

I have no secret insider information, but...

We just destroyed a large contingent of Putin’s “Russian mercenaries”. He has used them as his stormtroopers in Georgia, the Crimea, Eastern Ukraine, and Syria.

The poison gas was used just outside of Damascus, an area supposedly in his control! Gas is used to create civilian flight and erosion of the rebell’ support base.

These are not signs of winning, but I have no special expertise.

Terror weapons don't work - you can't bomb or gas a people into submission. We've tried, notably in the second world war, but you can't destroy someone's will to fight, or to support the war effort, that way.

For the most part, yes. They have a small maneuver element of perhaps 15k to 25k men, and they're slowly moving across Syria to mop up the rebel pockets.

Right now they're deployed around Damascus.

The three biggest threats to Syria right now are Israel, with their interference along the Golan, Turkey, who's in the process of annexing Idlib, and Afrin, and then, us, who've occupied much of eastern Syria.

The jihadists are no longer in a position to threaten the government. It's simply a question of time before they're defeated.

The alleged incident occurred in East Ghouta, in a rebel enclave.

The jihadists there, and their families, were in the process of surrendering. They had negotiated safe travel to Idlib.

Do the gas cylinders have damage consistent with being dropped from the air?

Can you substantiate that with examples?
