I've always believed that the primary difference between the left brain and right brain deals with acceptance of basic human nature. Since our caveman days people have valued their personal well being above all else. Next is your spouse and children. Then your friends and neighbors. Poor people in Afghanistan come waaay behind your concern for your dog.
This is why the USSR failed. Workers avoided work and stole from their factories because working hard is motivated by getting promoted or getting a raise in pay, not serving your duty to society.
