Why should the US allow immigrants

From other countries, if they haven’t demonstrated a certain level of productivity/accomplishments within their own country?

We shouldn't. Next question.

But, but... what about the children? You know the 20 yo man with facial hair that claims he is 13 and it cannot be verified with any documentation...
Think of the kids man...

If you really look for the answer to this question, you would find it.
There are hundreds of factors that work against someone being non-productive. If given a chance people can contribute to the economy. This is demonstrated time and time again with wave after wave of immigrants.
Your argument is akin to saying, "if an unemployed man has demonstrated himself incapable of holding a job, why would anyone ever hire him?" As if employment is always within the control of an individual.

All irrelevant. Immigration to this country should be based on whether or not the applicant brings useful skills to this country. Period. We have too many other domestic issues to solve to be the global handout.

The same people who determine our immigration law.
No problem.

While you maybe completely right, my argument is why is it our duty to grant that “chance”? Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for you country. It’s not the countries responsibility to grant foreigners a ‘chance’ or an opportunity despite how it might might sound all nice.

what if their "useful skill" definition differs from yours?

Cheaper labor because millennial’s with degrees will not work low wage jobs and who wants to work at a 7-11.

Honestly, we shouldn't. We should be bringing the best and the brightest with innovative ideas and meaningful skills to our shores. If you can't offer us something, and it sounds bad, but sorry.

Should we give her back?

quote:I don't think you should have to present a resume (productivity, accomplishments, etc.) to gain entry. Only that you have the desire to get in and fulfill the requirements under the law. If you impose performance-based criteria on immigrants, that runs counter to the concept of freedom, thereby denying the opportunity for self-advancement that may not have been available in their country of origin.
