You're ignoring the adaptability of the cartels. They would lose millions in that market. But they would, again, shift to a different product and most likely find a way to make up those losses.

I'm sorry but the wall will do next to nothing to cartels, seeing as they mostly use planes, ships, and tunnels to get their product across. The wall stops none of those.

Honestly it would take something like sanctions on Mexico to hold them accountable. Sad part is, even with all of our special agencies, they still get in. Everyone needs to be held accountable and rogue sanctuary cities need to be ended yesterday. It blows my mind that these leaders are so ignorant that they don't even know what is going on.

After legalization, the current drug cartels will just join their big brothers and become ISPs.

I don't disagree on the sanctions part. It's just that there really is no easy single solution to solving the problem. Changes would have to take place on so many fronts, both sides of the border.

What happened to the mobs after prohibition ended in the USA?
Sure they shifted, but they lost power and eventually became less violent.
There really isn't a black market like the drug market.

Well a lot of them lost power, and a lot of them kept power for a long time. But we also have to realize that the mafia and cartels are not the same beast. There are different socioeconomic factors that created each group.

The mafia was a group of immigrants who became citizens. And part of the reason they turned to organized crime is due to the family community they developed in reaction to their perceived oppression.

Cartels we're never about immigrants, and family. They were born into failed states and saw drug dealing is the opportunity to make money.

I mean maybe I'm wrong about that. And by all means, continue this discussion with me if I am.
