The other dirty little secret is that the US is out of artillery shells. The Ukrainians have to use heavy shelling to keep the Russians pinned down. Unfortunately our supply chain on munitions sucks. Trump recognizes that if we continue to ship this level of munitions to Ukraine it leaves us dangerously prepared for any other conflicts.

Is this honestly a question? Requiring anything of Putin that he doesn't want requires significantly more resources in best case from us, and the loss of our lives potential for WW3 in worst case.
Requiring Zelensky to give up what Ukraine has lost and call it a day requires nothing from us. This is the only path with which we don't get further bled dry, but leads to peace.

If we had not stupidly had pushed the notion of Ukraine becoming a NATO country, and Ukraine had not punished the people that were pro-Russian, Putin would not have had a legit reason. Russia hasn't been a real threat to NATO since the fall of the Berlin Wall, but we kept expanding eastward. We almost had WW3 back in the 1960's because the USSR tried to put nukes on Cuba. Now we are expanding to the point where a NATO base in on the doorstep of Moscow. Stupid shite. All in the name of the MIC and kickbacks to corrupt politicians.
