Yeah I get that, but is it our job and should it be our job?

If we're making Mexico pay for a wall, surely we can tell Europe to pay for their own defense.

Trump said he could make the military great again and still spend less while doing it

Yet he proposes cutting dozens of programs to give more money to military. Hmmm

Agreed, but it's still the law of the land that we've got no plans to abolish anytime soon. That's a discussion for another thread though.

We should. And it's one thing that Trump has made actual headway on.

Patience grasshopper.

Obamacare is in process of self-strangulation. After Friday, we're merely voyeurs watching the act.

So we agree that it's bloated and doesn't need to be. We're going to need cuts everywhere if we've got any hope to reign in this debt.

Everything in the government is bloated. It's impossible for anything run by the government to not be. And that's not why we spend so much more than everyone else. You get down to the real reasons and most people don't really want to cut the military. Especially the left.

Meh, I don't see it that way. If it's going to fail, and it will, we should stop it. Playing politics with it isn't responsible IMO.

Trump has already made a significant cut to military spending.

The original intent was to increase military spending by One hundred and Eight million. Trump cut that increase FIFTY PERCENT to 54 million.

That's a 50 percent cut in military spending, dude.

Not true.
But it has justifiably been shifted behind tax reform in priority.

Except as Gruber and BamaAtl will tell you (accompanied with multiple "dancingbananas"), the public is stupid. The public does not understand obamacare is going to fail. Until they do, they view its abolishment as a deprivation.

This is a lie. You're either intentionally lying to people who don't know any better here, or you're one of the ones who doesn't know any better.

Irrelevant to you maybe, but not to rational people. It's actually a VERY relevant point, which is obvious - we don't need to increase defense spending by another $54 billion when we are already by far the most powerful nation on Earth.

You ignore the fact that it had zero impact on increasing the budget, though. he cut entitlements to fund the increase....so we have to give him credit for that.

But when the actual budget is written, they won't cut entitlements to fund the increase. They will simply increase defense spending and not pay for it, even though they will say they are. And with their avid desire to cut taxes for the affluent again, it's almost a certainty that any increase in defense will not be paid for.
