“The absence of American leadership”? Really, Mr. Obama?

That's silly. Seems like he would have better things to do than worry about trolling me.

How about the fact that he's still widely respected in the world community?

Trump is an imposter and no one other than his base (which includes about 80% of Poliborders) takes him seriously

DU had a whole melt thread about how Fox News or someone similar called him Mr. Obama complete with links of them referring to W as President Bush.

It was good times, but I can't find it.

There is this old DU classic to remind them:

quote:

You can use this to drive certain people crazy, particularly by correctly referring to Bush's father as Ambassador Bush.

In America there is one President and one Vice President at a time, and those titles can only be applied to the person holding the office at the time. There is never more than one living person who can be properly called President. The titles does not follow a person into retirement.

"Former President" is an historical description, not a title. The moment a president leaves office he reverts to the highest title he has held short of the Presidency. (Similar to when a king abdicates and reverts to Earl of Whatever) Here are the proper titles of our last several Presidents if you were inviting them to a formal dinner (the dead ones are included only as examples):
General Eisenhower
Senator Kennedy
Senator Johnson
Representative Nixon
Representative Ford
Governor Carter
Governor Reagan
Ambassador Bush
Governor Clinton

Regarding Bush 41, in the rules of protocol Ambassador is a big deal and outranks Congressman or agency director. Ironically, GHW Bush has the same title as Carol Mosley Braun, Eleanor Roosevelt or Adlai Stevenson, all also better known for things other than ambassadorial posts. (Recall that Braun was called Ambassador Braun rather than Senator Braun in the debates)

If he can't be bothered to properly release a statement, why should anyone take Senator Obama seriously?

I get people calling past Presidents "Mr President" or something but I can't recall other past Presidents releasing statements while still calling themselves President like Barry just did.

Who gives a shite what the world thinks of Barry?

That doesn't change the fact that he is no longer President.

He's liked because he's the only president that bent the knee for everyone else to the detriment of America

That's just dumb. He was NEVER "respected in the world community." His liberal base flocked to him, but world leaders considered the US a joke under his leadership.

That said, I don't have a problem with him still being referred to as President Obama. Many people refer to all former presidents in that way. No big deal.

Sure people do and it's not supposed to happen but I see no issue with it either.

I take issue with him releasing statements like he is still the President while calling himself President. No one before Obama did that.
