You always hear that Trump is trying to "take away the rights of LGBT people", but what do they legitimately think he has done or what he's planning to do?
Honestly, a lot of their issues with Trump stem from appointing Pence as his VP, which I always point out to them that if they get their wish (impeachment) Pence will be POTUS. That revelation causes some funny facial expressions lol.
They think Pence is pro-conversion therapy (which he's not) and that he's in Trump's ear to limit gay rights like marriage. They don't like Trump's transgender ban from the military, viewing it as an attack on an American's right to serve to which I always reply military service is not actually a right.

I like you.
It is refreshing to see people say frick the status quo, I'm going to do what is best for me and my family, not what society says.
To all gays and blacks, I challenge you to actually vote on the PLATFORM and the POLICIES..... not the identity.
Please note, lesbians are not welcome, keep your crazy, ANGRY, hatred on the left please.

I just can't see the evidence that Trump or most Republicans for that matter can be seen as attacking gay rights.
I have a gay aunt and she was convinced that Trump was going to crush gay rights. It was weird.
As others have stated, there are many gays who don't actually want equal rights; what they want is special rights. The problem is, they can't even see it.
They just go to extremes with it and get all dramatic. I had one friend (well educated, btw) who sincerely thought we were going to be logged and numbered in some gov't agency. I laughed and told him, congrats, we already are...ever heard of your social security number?

I have always gotten along famously with gays, starting with my college roommate, then grad school, then the work place, and now in retirement. I've been very good friends with at least 30 and never disliked a single one. They always treated me well. OTOH, lesbians have always treated me like shite and I have returned the favor with those bitches.
I would make these generalizations about gays I've known IRL:
a. They are not good at math. Especially handling personal finance. They're not poor, they just don't plan well.
b. They tend to be nocturnal. They don't do 'early to bed and early to rise...'
c. They love spreading nasty rumors about people who piss them off.
d. They have a terrific sense of humor. They are not bitter like lesbians.

Is this just because they exist exclusively in their bubble?
Do you ever do the "let's play this out" exercise with them?
i.e. ok, Trump registers all gays. Then what happens? Then what happens after that?

Lesbians confuse me (read that as, scare me). Gay guys tend to have a bit of GayDD -- they move from one thing to the next pretty quickly. They'll have a bitch fit then move on to the next thing.
With lesbians, it's deep and it's real. Anyone who said an elephant never forgets, clearly never met a lesbian.

I don't know honestly. It's always this dramatic, worst case scenario and yes, getting 5 or 6 together can turn into an echo chamber of clucking hens -- each feeding off the other's fears/concerns.
I'm being tongue in cheek there, but not by much. For most gays, they are just single issue voters. Bottom line. It's hard for them (IMO) to see the big picture.

that is the shite we all told people would happen once gay marriage was legalized. people swore it would not happen. uh huh and how did that work out again? that slippery slope lead us into this mental illness transgender shithole we are in now also. what next??????

Little stories like these that I keep reading everywhere have me excited. I think this is going on under the radar and behind closed doors all over the country. Nobody's talking about it in the MSM but I think it's going to reveal itself big time in the election and it's going to be a huge surprise to a lot of people.

I think this is why the MSM/DNC is freaking out and calling everybody a Nazi and a racist. They're in their death throes because they know everybody's waking up to their bullshite.

I have absolutely zero fricks to give over what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their bedroom.
Just don’t expect me to celebrate it and then get offended when I don’t. That’s your business, not mine.

Spot on.
Regarding trans in the military, a huge issue that the service branches are dealing with is suicides. When you can be banned from service for something as relatively benign as a peanut allergy (I almost was), it's not a stretch for the military to see the value in preventing service to a demographic that has crazy high suicide rates.
Irks me that some can't see that. If Trump was bringing back the silly don't ask/don't tell, I could see folks having a problem with it, but that's not even been a talking point in passing, so...

These are all expressions of freedom in a free society. Are you saying they shouldn't be allowed to express freedom the same way you do?
quote:
don't get your panties in a wad if I express disgust when you do it in public.
This is also an expression of freedom. Your heterosexual expression of freedom. How would you feel if they thought you shouldn't be allowed to express your disgust of them?

None of that lifestyle was celebrated. No TV shows were build around their moral lapses. There were no supermarket tabloids or 'Women's magazines" that extolled how to be 'good in bed.'
I agree with you here. I don't like any of that either but I also don't want the government to be the arbiter of what's acceptable and moral, consensual social behavior.
Everything you described above is just a reflection of the market in a capitalist society. The consumer has spoken. Do you think you know better than the market? That's how a big government bureaucrat thinks.
In one breath you seem to extol the virtues of a free Society without government influence and in the next breath you seem to imply the Virtues Of moral controls on freedom of expression.
The First Amendment wasn't recognized in order to protect popular opinion. It is special specifically because it protects BOTH popular AND unpopular opinion.
If you want popular expression of unpopular opinions to be quelled then you do your part to support popular opinion without interfering with other people's ability to express an unpopular opinion. In other words, do what makes America great and vote with your pocketbook not with your bureaucrat.
quote:
The more dangerous is the governmental influence on promoting a culture that relies on the government for their moral guidance rather than historically successful family guidance.
Couldn't agree more with you on this.

Not consensual (this requires a more nuanced discussion. We eat meat don't we? I don't think the animals are consenting to that either but we still do it).
In a truly free Society consenting adults should be able to do whatever they want as long as it doesn't directly infringe on the freedoms of others.
This really isn't a difficult concept and I don't know why so many have so much trouble with it. I think emotion is clouding your judgement. Don't be the conservative version of a Sky Screamer. You either believe in Freedom or you don't. That has to be the guiding Light for all of your opinions on all matters outside of your home lest you run the risk of hypocrisy and promoting government power to tyranny that will eventually turn on you and yours.
