He said something to the effect of McCarthy isn’t perfect but you know what your getting and you don’t want an unknown sleeze ball like Paul Ryan getting in.

I think it's a game of illumination and exposure. We saw how crazy Nancy behaved in regards to the Jan 6th false flag. Could be that private comms with McCarthy revealed some secret negotiations, but looking at Trump's endorsement and appointment at other key positions have put them into a light they weren't prepared for. If the latter is the case, McCarthy is going to face a monstrous amount of turmoil coming out of the gate, especially in regards to infiltration of our government by foreign influence. Will he err in the interest of protecting some special interest or influencer that we don't know about? As they say, the cover-up is often more dangerous than the crime itself. That's my uninformed guess. Edit to add: there were some concessions made to get the votes; I don't know the specifics, but would guess some of them might become significant after the dust settles. Getting the Republican led Congress to begin operations in a timely manner seemed to be a driving force to closure as well. Saw some stuff where these Speaker of the House negotiations in past history (1800s) went on for several weeks, maybe not the best strategy in modern times.

Trump makes incredibly bad choices regarding political talent.
To be fair, the talent pool isn't very strong
What GOOD people want to be a part of that?

It's just Trump being transactional it's Art of the Deal for him. I am sure there were some conversations and deals made at MAL that Trump is hoping to get in exchange for his endorsement.
Additionally, Trump does not like to pick a loser. He knew KM was a shoe in, and was inevitably going to win. So it helps his ego a little to say he was responsible for getting KM the SOH, but he also probably feels it is wise to have a friend in that position heading into 2024 and dealing with the ongoing investigations.
So in the end, it was mostly for his own personal reasons, but to be fair, that is basically what all the reason everyone else ended up voting for him as well. It's just how politics work.

Because he’s a yes man.
He went to maralago and kissed trumps arse after blaming him for Jan 6th.

Because he is not really against the swamp. That's it. Quit making excuses. He surrounded himself with it during his term and he continues to support it.

He likely doesn’t care, he just wants to look like he supported the eventual winner and had a hand in his winning. If y’all haven’t figured out yet that Trump only cares about Trump by now, then I feel sorry for you. There’s rarely any other calculus to his actions.

Trump is no longer Trump. I voted for him, but he loves swamp.
When he endorsed 99 year old swamp creature Thad Cochran over Chris McDaniels in the Mississippi Senate race prior to 2016, I knew then he wasn’t to be as reliable as he was portrayed.
McDaniels ran America First campaign while Cochran, who could barely walk or talk, hid. It was unreal.

He's a moron and a cuck. He talks a big game about draining the swamp yet he almost exclusively backs and hired swamp creatures. He's a swamp creature himself and a total fraud.
He bent over and spread his legs for Fauci during COVID, bent over and spread his legs for Biden by leaving the WH instead of clinging onto the walls for dear life, and he bent over and spread his legs for a swamp creature like McCarthy.

And yet the majority of this board still believes it'll somehow be different if he were to get a 2nd term.
The fact that he constantly tries to pander to Maggie Haberman and Olivia Nuzzi should tell you everything about where his priorities are. The most important thing to him is getting people to kiss his arse. It's like John McCain after he lost in 2008. The most important thing to him was what Joy Behar and the NYT thought about him. Then, when they shite on Trump in their articles he freaks out. If only there was a way to not do interviews with liberals who hate him...hmm. No one held a gun to your head and forced you to do an interview with them, Donald. And he's going to keep doing this. He's going to keep doing interviews with the NYT and WaPo and they'll smear him. These people are NEVER going to like you, Donald. They hate you just like suburban women hate you and they want to destroy you.
Ron DeSantis would NEVER sit down and play footsie with Maggie Haberman, someone who invented the Russia hoax and whose number one goal is to take him down.

I talk shite about Republicans who lose and are spineless. I like Republicans who win. Cucks are the ones who embrace losers (Trump, Romney, etc.) and spineless GOP members (MTG, McCarthy, etc.).
