Why does the idea of a “peaceful” protest have to always be glorified?

I can acknowledge you have the RIGHT to do something. I can still say that something is pointless or even stupid, while still acknowledging your right.
In this case it seems hard to conclude that the idea of “protesting” is anything but completely stupid - certainly by now. Yet, every condemnation of what is going on seems to have to be prefaced by this notion that we must first laud those who just want to “peaceably protest.” Why? What could they possibly be seen to be accomplishing at this point?

Apparently the men who wrote our Constitution thought that peacably assembling was important enough to guarantee us the right to do it.
Apparently Ghandi thought it was powerful enough to bring down the British Empire's control over India.

And I’m glad they did. That doesn’t mean every instance anyone wants to do it must be glorified. My point is there are plenty of things we have the “right” to do that are stupid. The right to do something doesn’t always make it otherwise.

They don't want you to make generalizations when you see video of a black person committing a violent crime. Those are outliers. They DO want you to generalize when you see a video of a white person committing a violent crime. Those incidents are completely representative of an entire race.

That is irrelevant to this discussion.

Would you call the American Revolution peaceful, though? It seems like peace doesn’t yield results.

A white police officer killing a black person after he complied is the issue.

of course it doesn't. any peace movement that succeeded did so when outside factors made violence (of the stronger side) too expensive
leftists now acknowledging that power and strength is how you affect change and justify existential paradigms is cute
wonder if they apply this logic to their stance on israel/palestine finally

The March for Life is a peaceful protest held annually.

No it is not. That is an excuse

Is that really relevant to this discussion though?

True enough.
But not every peaceful protest is noble or good.
But even arseholes with crappy causes have the right to parade their ignorance in public.
The Constitution doesn’t give you the right to stop commerce, burn and damage property, break and enter, steal, assault individuals, and block roads. And when someone conflates the two as equal and the same, they perpetuate and promote evil.

quote:Exactly. Notice how you didn't even include names and just referred to each party by their race? Why would you do that? Why does the media do that? They want us to generalize when we see one crime committed by a white person. Why don't we do that when races are reversed. Because it would be ridiculous right?

Is your constant appeal to the American revolution any different?

The British shot and killed the protestors. Next.
