Why do they call it “Shelter In Place?”

That makes it sound like there is an air raid or something or where you literally cannot leave your house under any circumstances

Currently in these states with this “shelter in place” policy, you can go to the grocery store, liquor store, gas station, work, exercise, etc.

I don’t know the specifics of every place but there also doesn’t seem to be a curfew.

Why the sensationalism with that name?

you wont get the all the hoopla and hysteria they want with "Everyone should just stay calm and remain home for the time being".

So really it’s nothing more than show.

Perhaps because it confers a sense of urgency which matches the seriousness of the crisis.

Called it being placed on quarters in the service.

Only place you could go was to eat/get groceries, get medicine or to the doctor.

They don’t want thousands of people hitting the roads to evacuate, the way we do with hurricanes.

It means Democrats value solar panels and postal debt over all else.

Are beauty salons open? My wife's gray roots are starting to show.

It comes from the vernacular used in Nuclear fallout scenarios.

It's therefore an extremely provocative fear-mongering phrase and therefore being used here for obvious connotations and reasons.

They’re trying to avoid the “q” word or “lockdown” or “martial law.” “Shelter” sounds like a warm word.

They are just using an existing term for an analogous (granted, not “identical”) situation ... tropical storms and hurricanes.

Is there anthing that Trumpkins do NOT see as whine-worthy?

Well a "stay home" order does sound a little less threatening does it not?

Organizations (including governments) just LOVE their jargon.
