You’re talking about quality. If they both had BA degrees, unless you were specifically controlling for education quality, almost every polling would consider those two people to have the same education level.

So if you want to figure out within either group which one's voted which way you need more than just the overall group number

The differences in vote by income level is pretty marginal in Trumps favor, literally within 1-2% for each substrata of people with incomes over about ~$150K. It’s much different by education level, as pointed out earlier.

I think you fundamentally misunderstood my original post; you and ooga have inserted a narrative I have not attempted to make. The OP was wondering why white voters chose Trump. I simply pointed out that OP was focused on the wrong aspect of the electorate that would clear up his confusion as to why states like Maine VT and NH voted blue even though they’re white.
It’s just facts:
If you finished college, you voted against Trump by a wide margin.
If you’re rich, it’s a toss up who you vote for (except the ultra-wealthy, like Forbes list)

I think the OP was thinking of the northeast and not the more rural parts of the USA. I would say that one factor that points to a place being a liberal hotspot is the number of people with higher education levels. Places like Boston tend to have a higher percentage of people with college degrees than other places.
