It didn't start until Trump lost.

This is more "the other party is in power so America sucks now" narrative. When it's Trump in power, you see the Leftists opine for Europe (actual Europe, which does not include Russia). When it's Biden in power, you see MAGA opine for Russia.

Putin knows how to sell to disenfranchised emotional thinkers and proliferate that message. They eat it up.

At least when Leftists are melting down, they talk about moving to France or Italy or Germany. MAGA is talking about how much better Russia and Hungary are than the US

Yes, maybe we should be allied with Russia. Maybe we could learn something from the civilized Russian citizenry. Like how to be civilized in public - as in places like Disneyland and Cruise Ships. The citizens of Russia feel more safe on their streets than the average American feels on the streets of our cities.

Plus, that buffoon in the Oval Office is a total disaster. Who would you guess does a better job of protecting the borders of his country? Joe Biden or Vlad Putin? Be honest.

That was a cultural comment. People are arguing we are culturally similar to Russia when that's not true at all.

We are a Western, liberal democracy. Russia has never been any of those things

Russia is never "getting its act together".

Russia as a backwater monarchy that was taken over by Communists prior to Russia being in the correct posture for Marxism. Russia never reached modern industrialization, which is a necessary step (following autocratic rule) for Marxism to work, per Marx. Even assuming Marx was right (he was not), Russia was not "ready" for Marxism.

So Russia has just rotated various forms of autocratic rule since the Mongol invasion of the 13th century. That is all their people know, and who they will always backslide to support. Putin knows this, which is why he understood how to seize the power atop the modern Russian ruling system (which is an oligarchic structure under Putin).

Russia has no desire to be an ally
with America. Its objective is, and always been, to dominate Europe and other strategic parts of the world. Their government has actually been pretty open about it. It’s not a secret.
