actually if the child tax credit zero's out your income tax it's capped at $1600.
after the standard deduction, employer heath insurance which is paid in pretax dollars and a 401k also pre tax dollars and you find yourself owing about 3 grand with two kids and a potential $4000 dollar tax credit which would erase your tax debt plus give you an extra thousand dollars then your child tax credit is capped at $1600. meaning instead of paying zero income tax and getting $1000 back you'll pay zero income tax and getting $200 back.
by the way that's every married filing joint with two kids making 100k a year or less.
here's the great news if we let the trump tax cuts expire the child tax credit goes back to 600 dollars and i can itemize again!

Yeah but you said it’s because we’re rich. We shouldn’t be spending our money on importing that cheap shite nor manufacturing it. I think that’s a huge reason why our poorer people are poor, just my opinion.
