Why are people saying this is a step back? (Trans ban)

It was a step back to pander to a small percentage of society. I wish trump would have not mentioned money because that really isn't the problem. It's the fact that someone will join knowing they will be unfit for duty for at least 18 months while they are examined. I also hate the comparisons to segregation and don't ask don't tell. Blacks and gays are not unfit for duty unless they have HIV and that goes for everyone.

I don't mind the money part. If they want to tout that number about 6,600 trans in current service (I doubt that), then multiply that by what I've seen as the cost of transition surgeries and treatment ($103,000).
That's a cool $679,800,000.
That does NOT include the sensitivity training any other serviceman has to go through. It also does not include any special accommodations that might have to be made, like adding additional bathrooms/showers to each and every facility.
FWIW, I don't see this as a step back.

It's a step back because who gives a shite if some guy wears a dress and cuts his wiener off? Who cares if some chick wears pants and gets a forearm tattoo of an anchor? If they get the job done, who cares?
The step back is that our government wants to pick on these people and apparently wants us to pick on them also.
But i think it's safe to say that the vast majority of people have come to the conclusion that it isn't right to pick on these people. Let them do their jobs and live their lives, and we will do the same.

The military transitioning to a normal work atmosphere has led up to this. I'm glad someone in charge is reversing the PC culture in the military.

It takes almost two years for them to medically cleared and then even then they are disqualified from certain programs. Any mental discrepancy and you are done with aircrew. Currently if you were ever on adderol or mentioned you are depressed your aircrew career is done. That's personal experience seeing that from my crew. I know it's the same for lots of deploying billets. So why let people join that are automatically disqualified.

Who gives a shite if you have to go by the gender you actually are?

So you would be ok with a dude who decided to turn himself into a girl showering with your daughter?

I don't remember which idiot it was, but one of the resident MSNBC idiots last night said it was "Grotesque".

Or, the fact that a near majority of trannies try to kill themselves and we're just not enabling them that avenue of free gun/mmmo/funeral service.
Dont see you guys advocating for bakers lately?

The people saying that are the ones who put more emphasis on social justices than national security and the budget. Some people are ignorant. Just no two ways around it
