Then why is he using his campaign account to pay for his restaurant and bar tabs all over town at places like Stabs, LA Daiquiris, Zippy's, and the like?

I have no idea about campaign finance but if he's taking volunteers to eat it would seem that was perfectly legal.

Steve Carter has been in BR politics his entire adult life

Steve was first elected to office in 2007. He's 76 now, so he has only been office since he was 63. That's not his entire adult life.

We have politicians like him to thank for Mayor Sharon Weston Broome.

How? Why? How does a reliable conservative Republican create SWB?

I haven't seen Carter get sued by a bank for defaulting on an 8k loan like Watson did. Is that who we need to manage the city-parish budget?

From the man himself:

quote:

Watson says his documented expenditures reflect not only his commitment to transparency but his style of campaigning in the age of COVID-19, which is to meet with individuals or small groups over coffee, lunch or a beer.

“In the age of COVID-19, where you can’t have a fundraiser in a large room and can’t go to the ball diamond to shake everyone’s hand, I’m going out and meeting people in restaurants and coffee shops,” he says. “But I’m not going to walk into someone’s establishment and start politicking without purchasing something, and I usually take campaign volunteers with me. So I’m rewarding my volunteers and spending money in local businesses that have been hit hard by the pandemic.”

I'm leaning Watson over Carter if I had to vote today. Will likely be mulling it over until election day though.

I am like you. Was for Watson but disturbed by Watson not being able to get out there and be more forceful and show more leadership. His campaign did not take off and that was very disappointing considering just how inefficient and screwed up this parish is right now.

Yeah I agree. I was hoping he had more fire underneath him and he's also not this big likeable personality in the debates either, but I do like that he literally (man I hate using that word) does some of the dirty work that this CP desperately needs. I could definitely live with voting for Carter too though.

I’d give Watson a place in my administration. Maybe he could run a clean up division. We need our streets, ditches, canals, etc. cleaned on a regular basis. They don’t do that now.
