Most people opposed to the second amendment like to try to make the point that the thought of armed US citizens fighting a war against the US military is ridiculous. And honestly it is. But that’s not how I believe it holds off a tyrannical government in today’s time.
Let me pose this as an example of how it does protect us today. Back during Covid, look how extreme some countries became. Australia for example. During Covid they were sending buses around to local schools, collecting children, bussing them to a local arena and giving them Covid vaccines. This was being done without the knowledge and consent of parents.
Now ask, why wasn’t our government doing that here. They were obviously hell bent on everyone getting vaccinated. I believe the reason was they knew local law enforcement would be met with very pissed off armed resistance. They couldn’t have those optics spreading around in social media.
Just one example. No people aren’t going to share off on a battlefield against the US Military. But in smaller scales it does keep the covering check.

National Guard, local SWAT, etc if they choose to put the job before America and betray it’s citizens.
More likely will have to be used against everyday citizens in a civil war scenario.
Hopefully never have to use in any kind of way aside for hitting .5” steel targets and gongs. Hopefully we never have to see mass violence the way that the majority of humanity has lived through and about 1/3 of the modern world deals with on a daily basis.
If history has taught us anything and maybe something we can all agree on, man is obsessed with ruling over man. All wars are fought over that in some form or another.
The 2nd amendment is the last fall back option that America must exercise if it will remain a somewhat free republic. And it will be citizens fighting against soldiers and cops during a martial law scenario.
The government is not afraid to kill it’s citizens, or it’s leaders. We got to war constantly. The ATF, the FBI, and others have literally murdered 100’s of people. Waco. Ruby Ridge.
The country rebelled because 2% tax on tea was too much. The British were marching to a weapons cache to prevent an uprising, and we shot them.

You realize that the military is us right
Yes that's why I pointed out that the idea that we're just going to be squaring off against the military as a whole is silly yet it's the common thing a lot of people go to when discussing the subject
