Not sure about "economist" but was Oscar-worthy in Soul Man.

I get it, but Rothbard and Hoppe aren't typical economists as much as they are social theorists.

Well Rothbard was pretty much everything.

Honestly out of the whole gang, nobody did as much for the academic field of economics as Mises. At least IMO.

Its like the Bilecik coaching tree with those three lol. Rothbard is known for all his social theory stuff, but he was an econ professor and man economy state did a lot to support his belief in the ANCAP philosophy. that book was intense economics and mises himself said great things about it.

Hoppe is almost more of a sociologist IMO, so he probably doesn't really rate in the same scale.

'd say he's one of the top economist his era

I'd say that I like him a lot, and he is an exceptional role model no matter what color one is. I'd also say his specialty is simplifying complex ideas that others formalized. He might be one of the most influential, but then again, so is Krugman and that dude is ate up like a dick sandwich.

As of November, he's not in the top 2436 economists globally in terms of research influence...

Yeah it's because he doesn't publish in peer reviewed journals or gets books published by academic presses that put his work through the peer review process.

He's ironically the Affirmative-Action economist who gets publicized because he's black and conservative. If he was white he'd be a nobody in economics.

Yes, in his era, which many here seem to not comprehend, he is one of the best out there. Great mind.

And he absolutely abhors modern academia and has called them out alot. He knows its watered down education and he has been saying that for at least 10 years minimum.

Thomas Sowell is underrated as a great economist probably because he is not generally a great speaker. His pen does the talking for him.

Conservatives wouldn't be saying that if he was white.

Interesting that no one mentions Keynes, seems to me that the Fed Reserve generally loves Keynesian economics.

I don't doubt their intelligence and smarts and ability to work hard. It's that their fame is based party on their identity. That's not a bad thing, but it is a reason why we have heard of them and see them mentioned more.

There is no problem with promoting certain people as role models, but Sowell and Tyson are famous because they are different from your average economist or physicist. And as I said that is not necessary a bad thing and can be a good thing.

And this is a example of diversity working well. We're getting information from people with different backgrounds, different communication styles, and just a different POV.

Well Sowell is an a-hole. I just can't imagine why he's such an a-hole.

Who cares? Taleb, Hitchens, can/could be insufferable too, but who cares if they have an interesting and intelligent message.

I prefer people to he nice, but I don't see how you can call him out, then make such mean-spirited posts about him

They aren't well known for only that reason, but especially that reason.
