I was thinking about that earlier. The non bots went back to OT and MB. Seldom Scene is still around. I think he was one of the Tariff Bros.

I mean...I don't know what sort of answer you're looking for here but the stock market took a dive when the tariffs went into place and they rebounded when they were removed or a pause was put in place

Well yeah anyone with a pulse knew this would happen. Now look at how the new trade deal will affect the US. Short term pain for long term gain. It is that simple.

He's just another lazy Trump appointment. He'll be fired in 3 weeks and you'll all be joining Trump saying he was a deep state hire. You can take that to the bank.

2 days to go. What time Wednesday will Pete be fired?

There was also a week or two there when we were being told we had to endure a recession for some long-term gain (ostensibly, to bring manufacturing back here). The goalposts and reasons for the tariffs move so much I don't even really post in the economic threads much anymore.

You think a county putting tariffs on imports just like every other country were already doing, was going to crash the stock market?

If Trump maintained his initial level of tariffs things would have probably continued to go south

The only reason he reduced them is he bent the knee to the bond vigilantes

And the market has rebounded in response to his tariffs being removed

It's too early to say that we've really won anything at this point

And claiming it would kill the stock market? There were ALOT of posters for several days after Liberty Day literally panicking about the stock market while being experts in geopolitics and global economics. Where they at right now? Fess up

Honestly ask yourself what would have been the result if Trump had maintained his reciprocal tarrifs when the bond market puked all over itself?

The mere fact that the economy rejected it and
Forced Trump to change course is telling.

In the end, we will probably have across the board 10% tariffs and a little more for China.

How that impact the overall economy won’t be seen for 6 months to a year.

Tariffs suck. They are just taxes on consumers. It would only make sense if they were used to eliminate or reduce income taxes, which they aren’t doing.

So, if they put a baseline 10% tariff on all imports which is what they say they are doing, Trump unilaterally (without Congressional oversight) raised the taxes on every consumer in America by 10%. I’ll never understand why the clowns here think that’s a good idea and can assure you that if Biden had done this, this board would be flipping its shite.

Of course. Which is why it's silly to act like we've won or achieved anything without knowing the long term results. OP is a clapping seal spiking the football for no reason.

Interesting conclusion since I rarely consume main stream media

Maybe you're just too sensitive to endure any criticism of your favorite politician

I'd have to go to sleep to dream of something more pathetic

I didn't say we're doomed

But celebrating like we've achieved some epic win is a bit premature at this point
