Trump must always be painted as a one dimensional villain. If anything bad happens to him, first thing to is deny it happened. If they can't deny it happened, then drastically downplay it and portray trump as overreacting because he's weak and thin skinned. They did it with Butler. They did it with the golf course attempt. They'll do it with this one.

They used that same strategy in 2020 also. White House was besieged with leftists, fires were set on the property, dozens of secret service agents were attacked, the mob was screaming death threats at trump and his family, the mob was trying to reach trump to kill him and those connected to him. Secret service forced trump to evacuate into a secure location. Since it couldn't be denied because there were tons of footage from that event, they downplayed it and basically called trump a wussy for running away. Law enforcement also downplayed it, none of the people who attacked secret service agents in an effort to rush through them and get the sitting president were charged with anything major, and none of them received any punishment.
