In my mind, they are illegal aliens, which is the proper definition of what they are by their actions. They are 1) illegally trespassing into our country and 2) they are an alien, they belong to a foreign country. But it's racist or "offensive" to say that. The day we began taking into account the personal feelings of criminals, we lost our way.

Everything is racist now. Therefore nothing is.

Technically there are 3 types of immigrants

1 is here legally with proper documentation
2 came here legally but over stayed their visa (no longer has valid documentation)
3 came across border illegally and never had documentation

I'm in favor of all 3 three types being deported.

I know some great folks on H1B and other work or student visas. They are so grateful to be here and they’ve done things by the law. They are good by me.

And they will turn around and vote for people who will let more of their people in with less restrictions then your grandchildren will be outnumbered and stand zero chance.

Some of you people will never get it. And that's okay.

Chuck Schumer sure didn't like this term in 2009.

You're in favor deporting people that are here legally? There's a surprise.

It popped up when they decided that illegal alien made them sound bad.

Undocumented alien will go there same way.

The new word is migrant. Get with the times. Migrant means they moved. And moving is legal. They don't have to say if it is legal or illegal.

This is their new word of choice.

Someone had to do a word of the day meme of migrant.

Per SCOTUS, the proper term is illegal alien.

You see the euphemisms kick in because it softens the language. They don't want the poor illegal brown people (and other illegals) to feel bad about being criminals, so they tone it down. 'Illegal' conveys that you've broken the law. It's right in the name.

'Undocumented'? You just need the paperwork. You're already here. Let's just take care of that little technicality.

And 'Immigrants?' Why, we're a NATION of immigrants. You'll fit right in! Just have to deal with that pesky documentation quibble...

Migrant means that you are here to get education or work and then go back.

Immigrant means you are moving permanently.

I don't think we have a big issue with true migrants.

That chart begins ascending with a vengeance at the beginning of politically correctness movement, aka the election of Bill Clinton.

The media and the left have been massaging language for decades now. I don't know who or when this changed exactly, but likely the comms group in a leftist organization coined the phrase and the media ran with it.

A recent example of this is that gender reassignment surgery has been relabeled as gender confirmation surgery. Granted, this phrase hasn't gained wide usage yet, but I may have heard one of the earliest usages of it, and it was jarring.

I've been told by a liberal I know that calling an undocumented immigrant an illegal is akin to using the n-word.

Now, I'm old, baws, but I remember activists trying this when they pushed Reagan into the terrible amnesty bill in the 1980s. So, it is at least that old.
