Progressive era? Had to pass the income tax act somehow. Interestingly, GOP was always known as the rich people's party.

So, you only believe official versions of reality?
So, are you going to use a term coined in the 60's by the CIA to discredit anybody going against their version of things?

Mr Roger, I am waiting for your answer, I know that you are a very intelligent poster, I don't claim to posses the absolute truth, I am learning all the time, challenge my assumptions please.

Nah but our economy isn't controlled by a few rich people.

I delve into alternate theory a bit but the economy is way too complex for that.

Plus the economy is global now, any strings being pulled are on the international level. That's where my concerns lie.

Is it really that complex, or maybe they make it seem so, very few families control international banking, wich is all you really need to control everything else.

Hell, you could be right, I don't really want to challenge you on it. I just think the big money movers are international.

Now if you want to go after generational wealth and hit the trust fund kids I'm a bit more sympathetic

And New York and California are home to nearly 60 million people.

1 in 20 sounds about right.

And, frankly, since we also have about 75 million children (obviously some are millionaires, but those must be outliers), percentage of adult millionaires is probably closer to 1/16.

I don't have hard numbers breaking it down by age, but probably gets pretty close to 1/12 (heck, maybe 1/10) once you get to grown ups (folks 40 and over) beyond the college/starter jobs.

And most of those people are working folks, as well.

but 34 percent of the wealth in "affluent" households was in their primary residence

I just don't see how that's relevant to a discussion about wealth. Would it make you feel better if they'd invested in Pokemon or baseball cards?
