What would happen if China attacks Taiwan?

Would the US defend Taiwan and fight China or not get involved? Would this then start a major global world war?

BUT--that won't be necessary. China will take Taiwan from the inside out, without firing a shot. Just like Hong Kong.

Most likely not but if the US was to do something, expect a half hearted show of force that would be not be sufficient enough to deter China.

I think China invades via planes and paratroopers. They take over airports, and then air transport in Chinese troops & equipment. I don’t think Biden has the stomach to use F22 stationed out of Japan to shoot down Chinese Air Transports.

Taiwan has an Air Force, and an incredible amount of AA missile capability in its defense portfolio. They may be able to seize a few strategic points, but not nearly enough to take the island quickly before help arrives. Plus, the bombardment/missile strikes required to negate Taiwan's defenses would give the US and Japan plenty of time to respond.
If China wants to take the island by force, they are going to have to ship people across the Strait, en masse and quickly. Which is where the US Navy/allied navies come in.

Keep telling you guys ...Taiwan has a better spy network inside China than China has in Taiwan. Before those storm troopers would be airborne .....Taiwan missiles would be ready to shoot them down in flames before they reach Taiwan. After it's over .....the UN can penalize China for polluting the seas with Chinese blood.
One stealth bombing run to one target and China's economy goes to hell for a long time. Take out the Three Gorges Dam and China losses a lot of it's manufacturing capability overnight. Millions dead and the Wuhan lab under water. ...

Committing war crimes would be a fantastic way for Taiwan to steal defeat from the jaws of victory by losing all US/allied support.
