Let's keep this rational. I'm in a rational mood as of late. Keep any current circumstances and politicians out of it. I'd like to see this board to come up with some reform points.

What would our immigration policy need to look like going forward that would garner support from the normal people on both sides?

It’d look like it did for the past 50 years. The Chamber of Commerce wants cheap labor and the liberals want the US to be the world’s homeless shelter.

Bipartisan immigration reform? It would look like a blank sheet of paper.

What we need is to force through a vote to get Conservative immigration reform because that's really the only kind of reform that will work.

You should fit right in with the GOPe. Their rational mood for the last 30 years has allowed an irrational faction of the Democrat party to run roughshod over common sense without so much as a pardon me.

No thanks. I'm tired of being rational. It's time for action.

Like a griffin because it is a mythical creature.

There are too many sides here to truly get a “bipartisan” fix.

The Dems want amnesty and continued chain migration from poor third world countries for the purposes of importing voters.

The Chamber Of Commerce crowd wants cheap labor, be it unskilled third world peasants or “cyber coolies” on H2Bs.

The Tea Party side wants border security enforced and a return to skills based immigration rather than the Teddy Kennedy “Let’s import third world nations” immigration plan.

There is overlap in some areas, mainly between the Dems and Chamber sides, but the fundamental differences between the “open borders” and “secured borders” side makes actual bipartisan compromise impossible.

I mean things like expediting citizenship for upstanding immigrants wanting to come here.

Is it this hard to some up with some simple points? Everyone goes all fringe on page one.

Way to go.

Maybe immigration is the new abortion topic. Will always be two sided.

I don’t think there is any possible bipartisan reform. Right now dems are fighting for a loophole that allows people to abuse immigration through the exploit of minors. I don’t think they will settle for anything that doesn’t allow abuse/loopholes that allow unchecked immigration.

I'm just cutting to the chase because the only thing that both sides can agree on is that reform is needed. They just can't agree on what that reform looks like.

What I think both sides should agree to:

1. A physical barrier at the border to prevent mass migration

2. Better technology (ground sensors, drones, etc.) to help identify individuals crossing

3. More boots on the ground patrolling high-volume areas

4. Increased fines and penalties for those found using illegal immigrants as employees without using proper background checks

5. More judges available for deportation hearings

6. Additional trade tariffs on Mexico based on their lack of support of monitoring the border and preventing their people from crossing over

I'm sure there are others, but this would be a start.

It looks about the same as a threesome between myself, Mila Kunis, and Grace Potter looks like. A complete figment of my imagination.

You mean like "so fringe"?

Had you responded in a mature manner you would have received a equally respectful response and we could have had an adult discussion. Instead you choose the childish path of a cheeky comment, then feigned superiority with your follow-up.

Typical Prog - all emotion, no substance.

To your bullshite post? You kidding?

Typical prog? There ya go. No idea what you're talking about.

All emotion? I haven't presented the first sign of emotion. You have though. Very quickly at that.

Fringe are the crazy left and right that only speak in talking points. Like you.

At some point Doofus, a man has to stand up for the law.
God knows you prog-filth will never do it, you don't have the balls. The Republicans simply pay lip service in order to maintain status-quo and the Dems wouldn't know principle from a potato chip. All the politicians want to do is keep their gravy train on the tracks.

So filth, if being fringe means standing up for what is lawful then count me in.

To you and people like you, I pity you.
