what is the exact reason why EVERY school doesn't have an armed police officer on duty?

My HS has always had one. I don't understand rationale behind it.

All of our local schools have a policeman or sheriff posted on location.

Money, we can't afford it, we can afford a $600 billion military budget but not rent a cops in schools

Armed with what? The guy today used an AR15. They'd have to be armed with a similar weapon most likely to be effective.

The military serves a purpose, the poor do not. Cut welfare.

There were police officers assigned to this school.

because it's a ridiculous idea for the expense, ineffective relative to the potential harm and the actual ability to stop that harm from being done
if you think those cops on campuses now are there to stop this sort of attack, then you don't actually know why those cops are on duty at schools
generally speaking, they are inefficient expenses but for this specifically, it's patently absurd

I feel like most already do. Not sure how much is state funded but I imagine most of it it at public schools
As of 1998 there were around 27,000 high schools in the US. Not sure what it is now. But if there wasn’t a single cop on any campus, and you wanted to pay 50k for one to sit there 9 months out of the year, that’s only 1.3 billion dollars across the entire nation.
In reality you wouldn’t be adding to all as a lot already have one. And yes there are more costs to consider, and more schools than just high schools. Just saying it doesn’t seem too outlandish for the Fed to fund a cop at every school.

How does the board feel about non-LEO parents volunteering to guard schools?
Posted on 2/14/18 at 5:32 pm to SurfOrYak
My childs shcools have prominently posted signage all over campus that the staff is armed and let's them know they will use force to protect students. But the obvious question is why doesn't every school have controlled access entry via badges, etc. We are in our third school here in the DFW area all of which required me to use a door buzzer monitored via camera in the office to enter the building. The fault lies at the local government level. There's plenty of $$ paid via school taxes to fund this.

I heard reports of two cops at school

Arm the students who are the best shots. You can teach the rest later.

I have a proposal, take all the cops sitting at a speed trap and put them in the schools.

You wouldn't think that with all the money those school boards collect.
They can afford nice salaries and gym balls but not guns and amo!
