I don't think you can equate any trends of republican mayors being elected in other LA cities with what happened in EBR. Coach Sid is (unfortunately) an outlier - relative to Republicans getting elected in other urban areas. I'm 50 and he coached our freshman football team at Catholic. He's a north Baton Rouge native, and has been coaching football in EBR public schools almost ever since. If you can imagine the positive in roads , connections, and positive influences he's made with black kids and their families over those years then you can easily see how how he would get enough votes to win in this situation. If he didn't get at least 30% of the black vote in EBR I would be surprised. Hopefully, especially being a newcomer to politics, he'll get the right folks in the right positions to turn things around.

I can’t believe it took inner city Democrats this long to realize these Democrats are a complete failure in every area.

I think the St. George tax, caused higher turnout in south Baton Rouge relative to north Baton Rouge on a normally low turnout election.

Can you only imagine how fricked up the books are in these towns/cities? Now they can blame the issues on Republicans.

SHV’s situation was unique - there was so much infighting between a couple different black factions, that one turned on the other in the runoff and either sat out, or voted for the Republican.

I like our mayor but he’s a 1-term guy.
