the prices of things were based on a one income family. It didn’t take long for the money people to realize that there was more money available. So, they started raising the prices of things. Now, both people have to work just to keep your heads above water.

This is not true. We raised four kids on one engineer’s salary. We just did without a lot of stuff. The two salaries are necessary to have 2400 sq ft houses, two nice cars, multiple vacations every year, etc. We did not have that growing up in the 70’s, and my parents damn sure didn’t.

Physically capable men were killed off, we are a much weaker people as a result.

I agree. (overlooked by too many)

Just look what Russia and Germany lost in those two wars. The best and brightest in WWI were officers, which suffered an incredible fatality rate. Serbia lost a quarter of the population, some countries lost 10-20% of their men. We may never recover.

But hasn't this been the story throughout history? Think about the Civil War, we lost over a million Americans. Europe and Asia were at war for millenia. Ghengis killed half the world's population. War is inevitable, and just a part of human existence. It is how we define countries and civilization, we kill each other over it.

Have always used France as the most unfortunate example for this type subject, and what a nation should not do unless it's absolutely necessary for their survival.

What that relatively small country has gone through in too many years of so many wars.

Chief among them the Crusades, then the 100 Years War followed by the 30 Years War, through the campaigns of Louis XIV, then Napoleon who was responsible himself for the deaths of over 600,000 of France's best men.

Which by itself was something they've never really recovered from.

It's a wonder that they had enough good men left for World Wars I and II, which they didn't fare too well in, losing even more of what was left.

No mystery in what their women have been going for in the decades that followed.

This has to be a factor. Two generations of young men. Not to mention Spanish flu wiping out millions more.
