I have no idea what the details of the claims are or if Trump has any evidence to support a Truth defense. I was merely responding to a misguided post.
Trump’s attorneys not raising a truth defense is almost certainly indicative that they cannot support the defense, not a brilliant legal move to avoid shifting the burden of proof.

They can still raise the defense if their immunity claim falls through. It's not like they are mutually exclusive. But, they know the better play here is the immunity defense for two reasons: (1) it avoids even getting to the substance of the underlying claims and (2) it doesn't involve proving that something didnt happen.
And raising truthfulness as an affirmative defense would absolutely shift the burden as to proving that what Trump said was true.
