This bull shite tangent you have gone on does not negate my point which is there are several people in the past who were told, "You are fricking nuts!" for what they believed whose belief turned out to be correct.
Slow down. I'm referencing that Columbus was a poor example for your point. He wasn't in the minority for saying the Earth was round (because everyone basically knew it), but rather because he thought the Earth was smaller than everyone else said it was (and they were right, and he was wrong).
Columbus wasn't "right" when he discovered North America - he was just really, REALLY bloody lucky it was there to begin with. He'd have died long before he got to Asia if the good ol' North America hadn't gotten in his way.
Yes, history is filled with people that have had amazing ideas that people were busy thinking they were insane to notice. Less so these days, but it still happens.

Okay, let's remove Columbus from the point I was making.
My point is still correct even when I use only Copernicus as an example of someone who was told "You are fricking nuts!" because of their belief whose belief turned out to be correct.

But people will believe fricking anything. Some people hear voices in their head to kill their families. Others believe giant breathing sea serpents exist, but that doesn't mean its mainstream belief or true at all.
I don't care about mentally ill people who hear voices or have hallucinations.
My brother and I as well as some of the eyewitnesses I had the opportunity to interview regarding their sighting are not mentally ill and know what they saw was a large unknown serpentine marine animal which is commonly called a sea serpent.
Have you bothered to interview Marlene Martin and Tom D'Onofrio about their sightings like my brother and I have?
In my brother's and my case, we have video evidence which supports our assertion that we know we saw a sea serpent.

I doubt there was a single sentence uttered by anyone in the 1490s (non-sarcastically) from anyone involved in Columbus' journey that he'd fall off the Earth.
I've agreed to take Columbus off the list of names regarding the point I was making but my point is still correct.

And keep upvoting your own posts by the way. It's obvious to everyone.
Your belief that I upvote my own posts is based on no evidence whatsoever.
Prove that I upvote my own posts.

doctorate in zoology from the Free University of Brussels
I have zero zoology degrees from defunct universities.

It is my concern when you trash the education credentials of Dr. Heuvelmans who can't defend himself because he is dead.
Be that as it may, I'll interpret your response to mean you don't have a science degree from any university.

Dr. Heuvelmans earned his doctorate in zoology from the Free University of Brussels which is not a defunct university.
The Free University of Brussels has just been split into the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

Not even slightly, regardless of his credentials.

Interpret away.

Where is the Free University of Brussels located?

Saying Dr. Heuvelmans got his doctorate from a now defunct university implies the university was so lousy it went out of business and Dr. Heuvelmans' degree is not worth the paper it was printed on.
It's the same as saying because Trump University is defunct it's proof that it was a lousy university and any degree from Trump University is not worth the paper it was printed on.

It's the proper inference that can be drawn from the implication of your statement.
Otherwise, there is be no logical reason why you wouldn't state what science degree you have.

Since the Free University of Brussels has been split into the Université Libre de Bruxelles and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, portions of the Free University of Brussels are now functioning at those two universities.

No, it isn't. It's saying he got a degree from a defunct university.

Nope.

Infer as you like.

It has zero relevance to my statement.
