What do liberals mean when they say “universal background check”?

I could guess that it’s probably a background check if you buy a gun from a private seller. I have bought many guns and have never not had a background check.

I see people saying this Texas shooter failed a background check but he was still able to get a gun due to a private seller. If someone wants a gun they are going to get one background check or not

The original argument was to require background checks on all private (non dealer/FFL) sales
But we all know this is just a stepping stone to buybacks and confiscation

Not sure how it will be enforced

Private sellers at gunshows? What is the negative in this?

Most of them don’t know. The ones who do realize that it’s a back door for universal registration.

But how does one enforce that?
If my friend wants to sell me a gun, it would be easy for us to complete the transaction without anybody noticing

They honestly do not know. They are just parroting a catch phrase.

They want a background check on private sales, guns passed down through a will, etc. They want the govt to give permission as to who can and can't own a firearm. The next step is registration.

I’m not advocating for it (actually am wholeheartedly against it) but practically speaking registration is the only way to enforce it

Are you certain this was a private seller and not an FFL holder?

You probably bought from an FFL dealer at the gun show

They don't even know.
Here's a list of terms they use daily that they don't understand at all and have absolutely no real meaning:
Fully semi automatic
Assault rifle
Military style gun
Patriarchy
High capacity magazine
White privilege
Democratic socialism
Triggers
Nazis
Comrade
Electoral College
Universal health care
The 1%
Paying your fair share
Racism
Sexism

It would be easier to hold your friend liable if you committed a crime with that gun.
Otherwise the way around it is you "borrow" the gun and he "borrows" money.

A national gun registry
