Gun free zones always work well

Are you talking about the sticks or the whole TSA ones?
Posted on 12/30/19 at 6:22 pm to DavidTheGnome
I'm assuming the same added level of safety that's led to its use at any place that uses metal detectors...courthouses, sporting events, etc etc etc. And the truth of the matter is that there are certain places that are much more of a target than they used to be.

What about just like in Texas, shooting the frick out of someone that tries to shoot up a church?
Posted on 12/30/19 at 6:23 pm to DavidTheGnome
I promise you, in the early days of this Country, it was normal for churches on the frontier to be well armed on Worship day. I doubt that churches back then, were attacked anymore than they are at the present time.
You have to make these attacks a losing proposition.
You have to make these attacks a losing proposition.

According to the security team from the church yesterday the shooter was a stranger, he came in wearing a obvious wig and fake beard, he had on a long coat and he was acting weird. Check that SOB with a detector in one hand with the other hand on your gun and the two church members don’t get shot.
Why not kick his dumbass out right then if they knew that??

and then let it go viral for everybody to see, it has to make people think twice about it

It’s not so much a losing proposition for someone who is brainwashed and fully believe they are doing something right

I know this is a joke but two innocent people still died. Stop gun toting evil doers at the door.
So then the evil doers just wait in the parking lot for church to let out, what then, guard towers with snipers to protect the parking lot? There is a point at which our lives can become so constricted for the sake of safety that those who wish to do harm are the only ones actually free.

What about it? Are you advocating a government takeover of church security?

Two members of That Church are also dead, that's too many. You need to stop it, before it gets to the Sanctuary.
Nip it in the bud. I'm all for nippin it.

At a min I’m talking about the stick. In this case the whole security team was alerted to him. Can one dude frisk him while another security guy stands ready to shoot if necessary.
Some posters keep throwing in check my gun at the door. I never said anything about that. This evil doer would have had his gun checked at the door if a different protocol was used.

It's a losing proposition, if they are always stopped dead, before they can do any harm.

Whenever I go to the courthouse, it's a pretty quick walkthrough. You don't have to remove your shoes.
I have never once entered the Eastern District in NOLA when my shoes haven’t set off the metal detectors. I guess ladies shoes must have metal in the heels or something. Plus, you have to put your purse and your briefcase thru something.
I just don’t see how a handheld metal detector would have stopped this lunatic, any more effectively than the bad arse who made a head shot at 30 ft away.
I do like the fact that their ushers (or at least that’s what we Catholics call them) were basically all armed. I hope they’re packing in my parish.

They can already do that. Why don't they?
I'll tell you why they don't: Because somebody who wants to kill people at Worship, wants to kill them inside The Church. That's where they get their perverted satisfaction.

What about people not shooting up churches

When you go to church, you don't need one damn thing that is metal. Nothing. You only need yourself.
If you are CC carting a weapon and approved by the church, you just pass through.

Well armed security is a metal detector that stops the perp and stops future perps because they know we are now waiting for them,,, folks be smart and disregard gun free zone stickers in public.

I’m usually dressed up for church, and court. That involves a purse (metal on buckles), jewelry (metal), belt (metal), high heeled shoes (apparently also metal according to the EDLA).
It’s not the worst idea, but I think at some point we have to be able to rely on each other and we can’t hide out from the world.
I’m also not sure how this nutbag who wore a fake beard and brought a shotgun into a church would have stopped for a pat down with a hand metal detector. I think that church in White Settlement, TX had about as perfect of a system as you can get

Besides whatever statement such a person may be trying to make doing the act inside of the worship service, one would also think that it's a matter of having so many unsuspecting "targets" (don't like using that term but it's necessary for the point) all tightly grouped together in one relatively small space.
