I’m in manufacturing and we are paying a shite ton more, but we still have idle lines due to understaffing. And warehouses have the same issues.
Are your labor shortage issues partly caused by Vax requirements?

Department of Homeland Security is the biggest problem we have in our ports. It takes Customs forever to clear items once received. I bet they are the biggest part of this whole shipping mess we have

orida is a harbor heaven but when the governor says for ships to come, I don’t know where the hell they’ll go. Almost no container port facilities to speak of, except in Miami which has around 9-10. Tampa bay has a dream harbor, but is almost exclusively pleasurecraft marinas. I don’t see Florida being able to handle a fraction of what goes through Long Beach and LA.
Port Everglades handles container vessels and Jacksonville has a large port. Savannah is currently backed up due to a lack of truck chassis.
Charleston, NY/NJ and Baltimore handle container ships. Norfolk shut down their Portsmouth container terminal during the pandemic and it currently sits idle.

Nope, fortunately no requirements. If we did, there's no way we could staff.
People are job hopping...collecting sign on bonus, leaving for a made-up covid reason, collecting govt $ until it runs out, repeat process.

Are people still collecting govt. money? I thought that was over. I see trucking companies offering sign on bonuses around here ( they always have had those), but I haven't noticed any other sign on bonuses being offered by the plants, but I haven't paid that much attention.

With the Democrat tyrants of California and New York shutting down their state's ports, Florida, Georgia, Alaska should all be making out like bandits.
----
An aside, this port issue is one more reason California should be broken up. One state shouldn't control nearly the entire west coast shoreline of our nation.

Chassis shortages are what people miss when talking about this. New Orleans has had a shortage of them for a while, hence the backup of the yards.
