I didn't realize that. The two terms for 'tech' could be confusing. My wife just says 'I'm in the chemistry lab'.
Technologist/technician can be confusing. The terms are used in many fields also.
A way I think of the difference is...
...a technologist designs the car.
...a technician performs maintenance on the car.

The same way I don't care what a cornerback's race is, I don't care what a lab tech's race is. Do they meet the requirements to do the job or not? Reading into it any more and foisting your own opinion into that statement is where the racism lies.
If that makes you upset, then ok. I don't have to care. I threw in my opinion.
Seahorn was not that good. If he was black, there is a statistically likely chance he would have been a hair faster and more agile, thus better at the position. There is no measurable to explain the lab techs other than how well they do at their job, thus race shouldn't be an issue if they qualify (assuming their criminal records, etc, are equal)

That's why affirmative action is BS. I don't disagree there. Where my original comment came from what that in sports I don't give a shite what color the player is. David Robinson is my favorite NBA player of all time, and he couldn't look more physically different than I do. That fact of appearance is neither here nor there to me.
That attitude extends to other professions, but I do acknowledge that some races get more help than others. The issue I have with it is that race has nothing to do with it. Culture and upbringing do.

then perhaps more black people should goto school to learn to be a lab tech then the numbers would go up

I get all sorts of emails related to whatever flavor of the month it is. They always include something about black, women, native American, etc history month in the subject, so it's easy to identify and just delete those.

You don’t believe there are differences in intelligence among people? It’s pretty obvious we are born with variations in mental capacity, if you are born with a large mental capacity then sure, it is up to the individual to fully utilize it, culture, and home environment can have a lot to do with how far that is carried out. For those born with less mental capacity, there is a limit as to how much shear will power, and culture can do, their mental bucket will only hold so much. There is a lot more than just culture and upbringing that determines if someone becomes a janitor or a neurosurgeon.

My dad was a roughneck. And I found out after he died how muscle power saved him from WWII. In 1940 those rigs didn't have much tech. It was raw muscle. So, it was an industry that was vital to our war effort that could not be taken up by women like they did in assembly line work.
Dad was told he had a bad back and couldn't be drafted. He did not have a bad back. It was the excuse the govt used to keep men in oil production out there on the rigs.

Yeah. Nowadays the Med tech (with 4 year degrees) are called “ lab scientists”. Technicians are called techs. And phlebotomist , phlebotomist. No one in the lab would call a phlebotomist a tech. Again, it’s a profession to avoid.

No shite. Every statistical group has outliers either way, but on average, humans have the same capacity, no matter what race. On large scale averages, culture has more impact IMO. I'm sure there are plenty of dumb Asians, but their culture is geared to squeeze as much out of what they have as possible, whereas white culture for instance is not as good at that aspect, in general. That is my point. I've worked shite jobs with black dudes who are smart as frick, but they had no education or drive to do anything with it. I've also worked good jobs with black people at executive levels who were easily the smartest people in the room, but then you also got to hear about how their parents focused on education and hard work instead of finding their next gub'mint check opportunity.
Their culture in their home is what differentiated them from their peers. Apply that logic over a few million people and you'll see what my angle is.
On large groups, culture has more impact than capacity. Change the culture, and you'll change a race. Easier said than done but that's the idea. Millions of blacks do it every day, because it starts in their own home with their kids. The issue is they are in a minority within their own race, thus the results we see./
