Yes fricker we are also a nation that had slave owners. You evolve and become better over time. I’m not saying immigration is bad, but there is a right way to do things and a wrong way and how things were once done has no merit in today’s discussion.
We were once a nation that let too many immigrants in. They should change to only allowing those in who we want in. We need a wall to help. Just as we were once a nation that allowed other bad things and we have evolved to become better.

Until the immigrants declared their independence and assumed their own American identity. Then we became a nation of Americans.

The immigrants of the 18th, 19th, and early 20th centuries were of a higher caliber than the illegals coming today. Back then, they wanted to be an American. There was no safety net for them; it was either work hard to make good or starve. There is no such motivation for today's illegals; they know they'll be catered for hand over fist.

Yea government handouts have hurt many immigrants. In theory they are a good idea, but without a work requirement they are a handicap. IMO you should have a job or be working 20 hours a week of community service to get government assistance

IMO the wall has nothing to do with how many immigrants we allow in each year. It’s about knowing who they are before letting them in. It is a completely different debate

Well before 1965 we only took Europeans. Then immigration reform happened. For quite some time, it was the actual law that only white people could be citizens.
Multiculturalism is naive at best making life unnecessarily difficult.

I know people have arguments to punch holes in this quote at some place or another but IMO, if you are so dense to not understand what is being said here and not truly believe this to be accurate or acceptable then the very fabric of the foundation of this country is not what you believe it to be.
