If anything, spending $5B for a small section of wall is actually a WORSE deal than spending $25B for something that might show results.

Yes, not fully funding the wall is a worse deal. Glad we agree. Let's work together to get the full $25 billion.

Speaking of results, does anyone have any projections on the impact any proposed wall might have?

You're not going to get the exact numbers you want, because nowhere was a wall just put up and left alone without increased patrols and technological measures.

Many liberals will say, "But illegal entries decreased everywhere over that time period." Yeah, it's crazy how many people stop trying when you make it known that they won't be able to just walk across.

quote:

The data show an overall drop in illegal crossings over the last 15 years across the southern border, and the CBP itself cites multiple border security initiatives as factors in that trend.

Many security initiatives are needed, including a wall. The undeniable fact is that when border security has been increased through barriers, manpower, and technology, illegal crossings have significantly decreased.

Democrats could care less about the 5 billion dollars Trump wants the wall is the issue for democrats. It gives Trump a win and it works. Plus they can take it down because it would cost to much .

POTUS wanted $25B in funding. Dems gave him nothing.

Dems gave this in exchange for DACA. Trump said no.

It’s like a parent. “Oh really, now you don’t want it? Well, now you get nothing.”

How is it a compromise to give the president whatever he wants?

It isn’t. This board is hilarious. I wish I could go back in time while Obama was President and day $5 Billion dollars is nothing and see what people say.

how does a shut down costs us more money than when it was open for business?

please unpack it for me in simple terms

The states are doing wonderful

I have absolutely zero difference in my life or anywhere I can see locally...

nothing at all

it's expensive depending on what the reasons would be

A wall is more of a short term one time expense that will literally start cutting into the 100 billion dollars a year we spend on illegal immigration.

Obama typically wanted to expand government services while Trump is usually trying to chip away high costs and stupidity that waste money, I mean there is a huge difference here on this point!!!

Trump renegotiates trade deals when most people said that was NOT possible

Trump brings jobs home when Obama said "it's a global economy, those jobs aren't coming home"

Do you see the costs difference here?

Under Obama, 5 billions is crazy stupid expensive because it usually meant it would be like a weed, it would just keep costing more and more ....and we get what out of it? give me a good example of how Obama saved us money?

Under Trump, 5 Billion is wise investment because of the long term impact it wills save us!!!!!!!!!!!

So no upkeep? Updated tech? What about the tunnels that get built under? Those don’t go away for free.

So what your really saying . . .

. . . is Trump's shutdown will make the same section of wall cost $10.7 billion?

hint: if you take two of these you'll have a spare to tote whatever BS you'll post in reply.
