and so it begins
as predicted, the pressure on Dems to cut a deal is heating up
looks like we will see some kind of a deal pretty soon, and we all know that Trump won't make a deal without funds for a wall!

Washington Post calls on Trump, Dems to make a deal on immigration
quote:
The Washington Post's editorial board is urging President Trump and Democrats to hash out an immigration deal even as the two sides remained far apart on the president's latest proposal.
The editorial board on Saturday ticked through reasons Democrats should not take the deal Trump put forward on Saturday, which includes funding for a border wall and protections for certain immigrants, but argued that the "Dreamers" and Temporary Protected Status recipients who would benefit from a deal should be considered first and foremost.
"Unquestionably a deal would contain galling elements for both sides; that’s the nature of compromise," the editorial board wrote. "But a measure of statesmanship for a member of Congress now is the ability to accept some disappointments, and shrug off the inevitable attacks from purists, if it means rescuing the lives of thousands of deserving people living among us."

They are only $5.7 Billion apart. That is not that far considering that the total wall will coast $25 billion.

Takes two sides to negotiate.
One of them is putting forth potential offers. The other is pissed off their Air Force ride to Davos got shitcanned.

But who the frick are they?
This feels like WaPo thinks they are or are a player in the deep state.
Who the frick controls WaPo? Someone is pulling the strings here...
If Dems make a deal with Trump, deep state Daddy is somehow connected to WaPo.

They know Trump will win this, not on the coast or in the newspaper news rooms or in the MSM but in the homes of million of americans who vote...

Trump is asking for fractions of pennies on the dollar fed budget. Is it really that hard to build a wall? I don't care if it's effective or not. It sends a message to the socialist scum trying to "walk" from wherever. Don't come here unless you intend to follow our laws. Anyone willing to follow the rules is welcome. Otherwise, frick off.

This is significant because it looks like a step towards Democrats getting pressure put on them to make a deal...

They don't seem to care about the 800,000 government workers not getting paid.

Pelosi and Schummer probably talked to the Washington Post. They need cover to start negotiating. NYTs should follow shortly.
