Some, like France’s Macron and Germany’s Merkel, have outright positioned themselves as alternative standard-bearers for the West, taking not-so-veiled shots at Trump in public appearances.

Proper 'standard bearers' for the downfall of particular Western Nations, for sure. Not all bad for the US; they are the 'canaries in the coal mine', and Trump/America owes them a lot for their (coming) sacrifice.

here is an NPR piece about the Paris Treaty withdrawal that has an interesting comment

quote:

Leading up to the two-day meetings in Hamburg, Merkel had said that climate change, terrorism and migration are issues that must be confronted with international unity.

why does migration require "international unity" when countries like Germany want a COMPLETELY different resolution than, say, the US (especially in light of the geographical implications of migration currently)? you broke it, Germany. you deal with it. don't drag the US down in your bullshite.

this is what i was referring to earlier when DS said i had gone off the deep end. Germany wants to dictate our policy to us. that is stripping the US of its sovereignty...and for what? virtue signaling?

Long time ago, one of the money talk posters would refer to the dollar as being backed by "the full faith and credit of the US nuclear arsenal."

When Germania has their own fleet of ballistic missile submarines and air craft carriers plying the world's oceans they can join us as co-leaders of the free world. In the meantime, not so much.
