I would amend that to say 'if you are on government assistance for your sustenance you should not be allowed to vote in a federal election.'
Oh - and since more whites than blacks are on government assistance, this can in no way be considered a racist view. I am simply against ANYONE who lives by government largess from being able to vote for more largess at the expense of everything else the nation has to worry about. Anyone, white, black, brown, yellow, red, green . .

There is no such thing as Federal elections, only State elections to fill constituently authorized positions.
the 17th amendment changed that i believe. The senate is a popular vote for a federal position. Although I think i know what you are saying because it is run by each state.

Is everything a partisan issue with you?

The article posted by tuba, is mainly about early voting. The article does state that it is difficult for many poor to get the required ID that would be required to vote if it was required.
Aren't most of these poor voters getting government assistance? Do they require ID for that?
I would have thought ID would be required to sign up for and get a check and even cash the check?

If the dems can have countless number of vans to haul voters to the polls then I can't understand why they can't do the same to get these people to an id card facility.

So why can't democrats obtain an ID?

How can dims believe they can deliver free healthcare to everybody in the country, but getting free IDs to just a fraction of the people is asking too much?
The dimocratix certainly seem to be able to get folks to the polls. Why can't they get these same people to the DMV?
