Why not make your argument without the made up shite? It would be something like, "amazing is how the folks who voted for Trump twice were disappointed enough by his performance in 2020, undisciplined spending and how the "establishment" flourished while he was in office that they'd consider an alternative."

Well, that wouldn't be amazing at all, which is why you went with the fake shite.

What am I making up, Dave? I’m responding directly to the tone and tenor of the post. Specifically, inasmuch as poster was alleging arbitrary 180 on opinion of Desantis by some Trump supporters, so can the same accusation be made the other way around. And just as you explained that an abrupt 180 on Trump can simply be due to disappointment with him, same applies in the other direction.

This:

What’s amazing is how the folks who “voted for Trump twice” yet only a few months later argue to the death that he’s the worst person in history

quote:

I’m responding directly to the tone and tenor of the post.

No, you're not. You're responding to thoughts/ideas of people you don't agree with by making shite up. Or are you really arguing that "Trump is the worst person in history" is something you often see posted in these threads?

quote:

And just as you explained that an abrupt 180 on Trump can simply be due to disappointment with him, same applies in the other direction.

There's nothing abrupt about becoming disappointed by $7T added to the debt, shitty Covid response, and missed opportunities like the wall and ending Fisa. Those things played out over a four year period.

And they're real. There are records and history that back them up. Nobody argues that those dollars weren't spent or the wall is actually complete.

Now compare that to Trump superfans change in opinion of DeSantis. They've gone from posting shite like, "DeSantis is Trump policies but from a smarter and more persuasive guy. I hope Trump decides to not run and endorses DeSantis instead" to cheering for the guy to be destroyed politically...and why? What did DeSantis do? Run Florida too well? Speak up for parents too much? All he did was dare to compete with Trump for the Republican nomination. That's it.

Do any of these guys actually believe in God? I want someone who believes in America. Not just who says it but believes in it.

No. He absolutely does not need to do that.

Ramaswamy has been my favorite candidate for a while now.

If this is how you perceived “Trump superfans” as believing, especially in some homogenous way, then we’re impossibly on different pages and may not even be able to narrow the gap in order to have a reasonable discussion, for either of us.

For the record, I see your post as usual stereotyping and overgeneralizing of “Trump superfans” in way that derails rational discussion from the jump. Conversely, I am casting no aspersions about Desantis supporters in any general way.

Smooth talking Ivy Leaguer with no record, no experience, and not a single bit of self-sacrifice or service to the country...gosh where have we seen this before?

The only thing he's done in his life is chase an Ivy League education, Ivy League contacts, and then money. Super rich, privileged, has no connection to normal people or normal life.

His plan for the border would lead to the torture and killing of thousands of Americans. He has spoken specifically about launching military strikes against the cartels without securing the border beforehand. He understands nothing about this topic.

He parrots the populist messaging from people that are speaking impulsively. The border requires an actual plan.

That quote about Jan6 is pure nonsense and tells me that in the end this guy has small nuts and no spine - Jan6 was orchestrated by the federal government. From the planning to the unconstitutional Jan6 Congressional Committee...the entire thing was run by the uni-party / establishment conglomerate. It was not about censorship. He'll wag his finger and feign anger, but at the wrong issue and in the wrong direction. This is a red flag that when it comes to crunch time, he's going to let you down and wilt like all RINOs.

This guy is young. If he cares about the country, let him join the Active or Reserve component - not as a JAG, but in Logistics or something. Let him run for office like the House or Senate, depending on where he lives. I want to see how he's going to vote on an Omnibus for instance, or would he get in there and cave and vote for McCarthy for Speaker or stand his ground?

Only a fool trusts a guy with Vivek's background. Too many times our nation gets conned and screwed by his cohort from the Ivy League. At least force him to prove he's the exception and not the rule before making him President.

You're doing it again.

Did I say Trump superfans were homogeneous? Where did you pick that up? So why make that the basis of your response to all that I wrote about how wrong your other post was?

As for generalizing, do you think it's not a fair generalization to say that the vast majority, and I mean 90% if not more, of Trump superfans that now cheer RDS's demise held decidedly positive views of DeSantis a year ago?
