We live well right now because of the work and sacrifices our ancestors put in. We've been living off "inheritances" for 70 years. Those lazy chickens are coming home to roost and we see it in our society more and more every year.

That was never Vivek's point. It was that too many Americans value frivolity over academic excellence, and that this opens the door - not for Indians in general, but for foreigners who value academic achievement. And Vivek was dead right. You can bet that Musk shares that view.
