I have run into people that knew my father in his high school days. One man told me once "He's your dad?...we went to high school together...man loved to fight". He's 82 now so obviously a long time ago.
The thing is...back then...people would get into fights...It generally ended when one would win and without too much physical damage being done. My dad would tell me about how it usually ended was that they would help the other up and sometimes go have a beer afterwards.
Big difference between then and now.

True, but they typically went outside, both parties were willing participants, and they were typically men. It's trashy as hell but if two women want to settle their differences in a parking lot that's way, way preferable to doing it in a place of business in front of bystanders and kids.
