Looks like a new era hat

Edit: I see someone else located the hat as well.

Even a .243 which is common out there for prairie dogs at distance wouldn’t do that. .270/.556 to the jugular? Maybe. 30-06? Definitely.

You don’t know your rounds very well. A 5.56 is basically a .223 round and is weaker than a .243 I’ve killed deer at 400 yards with a .243 and they had an exit wound.

.270 and 30-06 are pretty close in power and both would definitely do that.

If it was a suppressed shot odds are it was a common military round like 5.56, 7.62x51 (.308) or a 7.62x39 (Ak-47 round)

Any update on this ? Seems like the only relevant thing for a shooting . Not the person that was released.

Boy, you’re sittin there talkin out both sides of your mouth like you’re readin off the back of a Bass Pro flyer. First off, 5.56 and .223 ain’t the same dang thing pressures, chamber specs, twist rates, all different. You can run .223 through a 5.56, sure, but that don’t make em identical. Second, you yappin about a .243 like it’s Thor’s hammer it’s a fast, flat-shootin round, but it ain’t puttin’ out near the energy of a .270 or a .30-06.. And if you think suppressed shots are just common military rounds, bless your little heart, cause you clearly don’t know what folks are cookin up in their reloading benches these days.

I didn’t claim this. I said the .243 is more powerful than the 5.56. .223 is less powerful than .243, and .233 is similar to 5.56 in power/killing capability was my point.

Not sure what brought on that rant.

I didn’t say this. I said it was most likely a military round because most common suppressors bought go on platforms like the AR-15. Sure you can buy them for any rifle but the shooter was likely a leftist idiot so doubt he bought anything outside of most common. Just saying “odds are.” Now if the shooter was a pro hitman former sniper type I’d guess he used a 30-06 rifle

Did you watch the video?

We weren’t debating exit wounds.

We were discussing what would cause a blood explosion like what we saw on entrance when he was hit.

I’ve shot plenty of things with .22, .22 mag, .243 and .556 and never seen anything beyond a bloody mist on impact.

You hit something with a 30.06 or shotgun slug and it’s a different story given the right placement.

The wild card that was posed was that he might’ve had a vest which compacted and deflected a round creating a deceptively catastrophic entry wound when it hit his artery.

I'm not taking that you are. We can have civil discussion on this side of the aisle. Even if we throw in a few cuss words or name-calling.

I own and shoot different caliber is suppressors and reload for both subsonic and supersonic. 30 cal, 22 cal and rimfire. I actually reload super and subs for my 300 blackout. Myself and others at our range ( not a backyard but an actual range where qualifications and matches are held) we have videod from behind the burm and conex containers where people have shot their rifles and that's an un suppressed rifle.

Your experience is certainly different than mine, and sounds more "professional" in nature. You may be correct, and you have your opinion while I have mine. And yours may be correct. Or mine may be correct. Maybe we can shoot together one day. If I am wrong, I'll buy the first (and least expensive) case of 5.56.

I'll take anything non steel case lol. I'm just picking at you. I do appreciate the good conversation though. Obviously that's hard to find these days lol
